Εrgo (Εργω): The birth of an NGO for preventive psychoeducation in Greece

In recent months I have been privileged to work with several amazing and well drilled NGOs for children in trauma, and to meet so many passionate volunteers and staff across the globe.12341123_10207067474219167_1654877529245509204_nThis was a new experience in sharing the excitement of a new NGO taking shape from the outset. After many months of planning and some firm decisions, the tenth Greek Muse Ergo was born!

The vision of Ergo is to provide preventive psychoeducation programmes from pre-school children to young adults, and in different contexts, mostly living in disadvantage.

The best part of the experience was the enthusiasm of friends and colleagues from different fields of life. Something tends to get lost when organizations become too large, so let’s savour this.

At a time of socioeconomic strain that leads to the rise of far right and xenophobic attitudes across Europe, it is also worth noting that the crisis gets the best out of human nature too. More to come shortly!
