As we are beginning to plan the next Theraplay training gig in Kenya, these clips could have been from any country. They gelled well with the rest of the child trauma training, and related to a range of caregivers, staff and volunteers for children who experienced complex trauma, including street and orphan children.
It helped that these were delivered by local therapists, Seyda in Istanbul and Astrid in Jakarta, but the responses were very similar. What seemed matter more than the language was the combination of demonstrating and explaining nurturing techniques across the two groups. It was great fun too!
