WACIT Asia 1: Child trauma workshop in Istanbul

It was great sharing recent challenges with the Hayat Foundation team. So many generous volunteers, from first year students to senior teachers with full-time commitments.

The workshop with NGO and mental health services staff felt more coherent than last year. Following a resilience ecological framework of child-family-school-community-society throughout (theory, evidence, case formulation and planning interventions) seemed to make sense. A good point from Abdullah that so much good work goes unnoticed, because NGO and other staff do not disseminate, so others have to re-invent the wheel. Worth taking note!A sad observation that this is the second consecutive country with the main focus on Syrian refugees – 2.5 million in Turkey alone – at all levels. Why can they not leave their country alone?
