WACIT Australia: Cultural identity education for Aboriginal children 

Cultural identity teaching can be emotive or superficial at times, or just non effective. Not in this case, where it is crucial for the new generation of Aboriginal children growing up in Australia to reconcile and integrate history, roots and future. 

Considering the adult barriers and secondary problems facing their communities, this is no easy task. But pre-school children are of the right age to start, and they appeared comfortable with story telling, music, dancing and drawing to make their own sense of past wrong doings, whilst being part of a multi cultural society and thriving society. 

Gunawirra and the pre school teachers played a massive part in this.
